Worth County Board Approves School Calendar

Worth County School Board members approved their school calendar for the 2023-24 school year during their meeting held Wednesday night.

The calendar will include a starting date of August 20th and an ending date of May 16th. The schedule includes 167 student days and 26.5 built-in make up hours. There were also other make-up dates included if needed.

The board approved the application for an Enhancement Grant for Career Technical Education Programs. The funding would be used to improve the ventilation in the welding shop area, the purchase of desktop computers for the Ag Department, a 3-D printer for the business department, and a hat heat press for the Family and Consumer Science department.

Superintendent Chris Healy gave an update for the district’s bond issue preparation. The funding is being targeted for building safety upgrades, lighting upgrades, and facility maintenance and reports.

Contracts for Elementary Principal Chuck Borey and High School Principal Josh Smith were also approved at the meeting.
