Worth County Voters To Decide On Proposition Tigers In April

Worth County’s School District will place a Proposition Tigers initiative on the April 2022 ballot that would ask voters to approve a 25 cent bond issue that would result in $2.2 million dollars in funding for a new building, a major renovation and the completion of other projects.

Board President Patricia Warner says the district is in a position to fund the objectives with COVID Relief funds and a community partnership. If approved the funding would be used to construct a new Community Center/Gymnasium, renovate the school’s Agriculture Education Center, make parking lot improvements, refinish the school’s stage area, improve the Elementary School’s Lighting, update the elementary playground, refurbish the heating and lockers in the High School hallway, and perform maintenance and repairs of the exterior of school buildings.

The funding from the bond issue must only be used for capital projects. The Proposition Tigers initiative will go before a vote of the district’s patrons on April 5th. Since it will be bond issue, a 4/7th majority will be needed to pass the measure.

There will be a website developed to share information about the initiative.
