Missouri Western’s Charlie Burri Selected for Induction Into Missouri Sports Hall of Fame
ST. JOSEPH, MO – Charlie Burri, Missouri Western State University’s first Director of Athletics has been selected for induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.
Burri joined the Griffons in 1967 as Athletic Director, Chair of the Physical Education Department, and basketball and golf coach. He was instrumental in the construction of Spratt Stadium and the Looney Complex and the development of the Gold Coat Club.
After retiring in 1984 Burri was inducted into the National Association of College Directors of Athletics Hall of Fame and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame as well as being the first-ever inductee into the Missouri Western Hall of Fame.
The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame induction will take place on April 23rd at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
