MSHSAA Approves Postseason Basketball Series Changes

The Missouri State High School Activities Association has approved changes to the MSHSAA Basketball Tournament series that includes an additional competition date for both Show-Me Showdowns and the Sectional and Quarterfinal site selection for basketball games.

The changes were initially considered and recommended by the Advisory Committees and later approved by the Board of Directors.

The Class 1-3 Show-Me Showdown will now be held over 4 days and evenings. For the coming year, the corresponding dates will be March 6th through March 9th. For the 2023-24 cycle, the March 6th will have the Class 2 Girls and Boys and the Class 1 Girls semis. The trophy games will be held on the following day on March 7th. The Class 1 Boys semis and the Class 3 Girls and Boys will be held on March 8th. Those trophy games will be held on March 9th.

The Class 4-6 Show-Me Showdown will be held March 13th through the 16th. All Showdown games will be held at Mizzou Arena.

The site selection change for the Sectional and Quarterfinal basketball Sites will be a change from what have previously been pre-determined sites. The host of the Sectional and Quarterfinal Sites will now be determined by the bracket as is the case with the other team sports. The top team on the bracket in odd-numbered years and the bottom team on the bracket in even-numbered years will be the host. There will be a minimum seating requirement set for the sites. This number will be set by the MSHSAA Office by class and historical data on tickets sold.
