Betty Jean Stover, 96, St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024.

She was born Oct. 18, 1927, in St. Louis, Missouri, to William Terrill and M. Thelma (Enloe) Culbertson.

Betty Jean married Alfred Blair Stover on Feb. 16, 1949. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 2011.

As the family matriarch, Betty Jean was involved in many different organizations but her main devotion and joy in life was to her family. She adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they adored her.

Betty Jean was a life-long member of First Baptist Church. She loved to bake and was the best pie maker. She loved crossword and jigsaw puzzles, reading her Bible and watching “The Golden Girls.”

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Alfred; and her parents.

Survivors include her children, Blair Stover (Angela), of Platte City, Missouri, Laura (Stover) Wyeth (Max), of St. Joseph, Lynne (Stover) Dempster (Bob), of St. Joseph, and Sauni Stover, of Kansas City, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, Reid Stover (Nikki), Hailee Brewington (Brandon), Amorie and Crewe Stover, AJ Wyeth, Betsy (Bryant) Holden, Alexandra Wyeth, Darby (Tyler) Baldwin, Gillian Baldwin, Anderw Dempster (Sarah), and Leah (Geoff) Miles; and seven great-grandchildren, Evie, Arlo, Huston, William, Leo, Greyson, and William.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 11 a.m. Thursday, First Baptist Church. Entombment Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service. The family suggests memorial contributions to Noyes Home for Children and the charity of the donor’s choice.
