Carol June Crabtree
Carol June Crabtree, 88, of St. Joseph, passed peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023, at her home. She was born Sept. 6, 1935, in St. Joseph, daughter of the late Helen Hudson and Jennings Malotte.
Carol played the clarinet in the band at Lafayette High School, where she met fellow clarinet player and the love of her life, Edwin “Tony” Crabtree. They were married on Sept. 30, 1951, and shared an incredible 70 years together until Tony’s passing on Dec. 14, 2021.
Carol’s professional journey spanned over 50 years in retail at Townsend & Wall and Dillard’s. She was an avid walker and loved logging miles daily with her neighborhood friends. Her true passion was spending time on the lake, fishing and camping with her family.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tony Crabtree; and her brother, Jennings Kemper “Pete” Malotte Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Toni Price; her grandson, Blair (Karlyn) Lynch; granddaughter, Ty (Bryan) Spisak; three great-grandchildren, Clara, Elias, and Molly Lynch; and her brother, Charles Malotte.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream; 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, at the Rupp Funeral Home, Chaplain Kyle Taft officiating. The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
