MAYSVILLE, Mo. – Carol Rae (Young) Teter, age 84, entered her heavenly home on March 31, 2024, at Sunset Nursing Home, in Maysville, Missouri. “God saw she was getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So, he put His arms around her and whispered “Come with Me”. With tearful eyes we watched her suffer. And slowly fade away. Although we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. Carol was born Dec. 30, 1939, in Louisville, Colorado, the daughter of the late James Kennith Young and Vinnie Rose (Kelsey) Young, of Union Star, Missouri.

On December 27, 1963, she married the former John Richard Teter who passed Oct. 26, 2005. They owned and operated Teter Clothing, in Maysville. They then moved to Independence, Missouri, where she worked at JC Penney until retiring, then worked at Turner Family Funeral Home, in Maysville. She loved the Lord and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maysville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Vinnie Young; husband, John; three brothers, Jerry Lee Young, John Dawson “JD” Young, Ron Young; sister, Darlene Shipley; grandparents, John and Edna Kelsey and Dawson and Cora Young.

Survivors include daughter, Pam Tharp and husband, Kendall, of Maysville; three sisters, Elizabeth (Randy) Garcia, of Blue Springs, Missouri, Mary (Dewey) Ballard, of St. Peters, Missouri, Nancy (Gary) Deatherage, of King City, Missouri; sister-in-law, Donna Young, of Maryville, Missouri; brother-in-law, Hugh Wayne (Janie) Teter, of Macon, Missouri; sister-in-law, Barbra (Sam) Saffell, of Ottumwa, Iowa; sister-in-law, Nancy Teter, of Macon, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, great- nieces, great-nephews and friends.

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at Turner Family Funeral Home, in Maysville.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
