Irene Adam
LATHROP, Mo. – Irene Adam, 87, of Lathrop Missouri, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, at Liberty Hospital. Born on Jan. 28, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Avon and Edith Barnes Knight. She was a graduate of Wardell High School and Washington University St. Louis- School of Nursing at Barnes -Jewish Hospital, St. Louis. Irene was a delivery nurse at Spelman Hospital, Smithville, Missouri, for many years. Irene was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Plattsburg, Missouri, Lathrop Master Gardeners, 4-H leader, FFA Mother. She enjoyed arts and crafts, baking, quilting and knitting. She was very proud of her family farm, The Knight Farm, near Portageville, Missouri, which received its Century Farm Recognition. On Nov. 10, 1956, she married Ronald L. Adam, they would have celebrated 67 years of marriage this year.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Eric Scott Knight Adam; brother, Ralph M. Knight; and sister, Norma J. Knight.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald L. Adam, of the home; daughter, Beverly Ann (Kent) Hartland; son, David (Dru-Ann) Adam, both of Smithville; daughter-in-law, Tammy Adam, of Lathrop; sister, Evelyn Ewalt, of Plattsburg, Missouri, grandchildren, Lisa Wolf, Jamie Wolf, James Wolf, Ashley Wolf, Ashley Kohl, Justin Adam, Bailey Pope, Britney Adam, Brooklyn Thompson and Brayde Adam; and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family will gather with friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, at the Bailey & Cox Family Funeral Home, Plattsburg. Inurnment at a later date in the Green Lawn Cemetery, Plattsburg.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Plattsburg Senior Center or Barnes-Jewish Hospital/ Washington University School of Medicine.
