Marilyn Batliner, 92, Agency, Missouri, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023.

She was born April 23, 1931, in Kansas City, Missouri, to William and Elizabeth “Doty” Hatton.

Marilyn married Leo F. Batliner on Jan. 23, 1960. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2022.

She enjoyed working for a few years at the former Children’s Home and then for many years as secretary for Judge Frank Connett. She kept in touch with her co-workers from the courthouse after retirement.

Faith was central to Marilyn’s life. She was a very active member and CCD teacher at St. Therese Catholic Church, in Kansas City, before the family moved to Agency, when she joined St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, in St. Joseph.

Marilyn and Leo loved to travel, especially to the Reno Air Races every year.

Family meant everything to Marilyn. She loved spending time with her family, with annual reunions at the farm a highlight each year.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Leo; her parents; grandson, Danny Lee Batliner; twin brother, William Hatton; and sisters, Judy Hatton Buterbaugh and Ellen Teresa Hatton.

Survivors include her children, Liz Batliner, Leo Michael Batliner (Pamela), Paul Batliner (Wendy), and Dan Batliner (Stephanie); six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Veda Hatton Baier (Ed); numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank the following people for their excellent care of our mother: the nurses at Living Community, Lisa, Stephanie, Paige, Skylar, Alyss, Denise, Jackie, Sheryl and Sharonda; hairdresser, Julie; and Heidi from Mosaic Hospice.

Mass of Christian Burial and Public Livestream 11 a.m. Thursday, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 10 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with a Parish Rosary at 10:30 a.m. The family suggests memorial contributions to Second Harvest Food Bank or the Samaritan Counseling Center.
