Mary Hutchison

Mary Louise Hutchison, age 70, of Leon, Iowa, the daughter of George and Laveta (Tharp) Collins, was born March 22, 1951, at Trenton, Missouri. She died at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon on Tuesday, December 21, 2021.

Mary grew up in Trenton, Missouri and graduated from high school in 1969. Following school, she married Claude Eugene Hutchison. They were blessed with three children, Tim, James, and Jamie. Mary’s adult working life started out as a certified nurses aide and medicine tech at Leon Care Center. After its closure, she took computer classes at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa and became a ward clerk at Westview Acres Care Center. She worked there for over 20 years until her retirement on September 21, 2018.

In her free time, Mary enjoyed playing the slots at the casino. She and her co-worker and good friend, Lee Ann Goodmote, enjoyed visiting and eating out together.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Calvin Collins; and grandson, Michael James Dohrn. Survivors include her children, Tim Hutchison and wife, Carrie of Leon, Jim Hutchison and wife, Jessica Nichole of Leon, and Jamie Hutchison and companion, Shawn Smith of New Virginia, Iowa; grandchildren, Dalton, Lexy, Paisley, Kiera, Janessa, Jocelyn, Kylie, Jacob, Lorenzo III, Kurious, Ean, Autumn, Aryah, and Titan; great grandson, Camden; brother, Duane Collins of Spokane, Washington; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021. Face Masks are Required. Memorials may be given to the Mary Hutchison Memorial Fund at Great Western Bank in Leon, Iowa in her memory.
