Richard William Davidson

Richard William Davidson was born December 5, 1934 in Nashua, Iowa and passed away July 24, 2022 at Mosaic Medical Center in Albany, Missouri at the age of 87 years and 7 months. Richard was married to his wife Norma on June 28, 1953 in Nashua, Iowa. They had just celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Richard was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church.

Richard graduated from Nashua High School in May of 1953. He then attended the Iowa University of Radiologic Technology and worked in radiology for many years. Later he pursued college credits and credentials and became licensed in Physical Therapy and Nursing Home Administration. The last 30 years of his career were spent in hospital administration at Gentry County Memorial Hospital, Albany (now known as Mosaic Medical Center-Albany); Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond, Missouri; and Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Missouri where he retired after sixteen years of service.

He is survived by his wife Norma (Dietz) Davidson. Norma presently resides at Orilla’s Way in Grant City, Missouri. They are the parents of four daughters Peggy and Jeff Davis, Albany; Dixie and Bob McGinley, Albany; Becky and Bruce Shisler, Stanberry; and Brenda and Patrick Collins, Blue Springs, Missouri. They have 12 grandchildren Michael and Amanda Davis, St. Joseph, Missouri; Tim and Amber Davis, Albany; Jordan and Marianne Davis, Albany; Jacob and Alexis Davis, Albany; Melanie (McGinley) and Adam Salmon, Oak Grove, Missouri; Justin McGinley, Peoria, Arizona; Jared and Amanda McGinley, Hamilton, Missouri; and Melissa (McGinley) and Andrew Anderson, Mason City, Iowa; Jessica (Collins) and Jay Kolster, Blue Springs, Missouri; Courtney (Collins) and Shawn Chappell, Louisburg, Kansas; Clay and Valerie Shisler, Albany; and Megan (Shisler) and Brian McClure, Olathe, Kansas. He is also survived by 26 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. Family gatherings to celebrate holidays and birthdays were his greatest enjoyment.

While in high school Richard enjoyed participating in basketball, football, and scouting. He was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and earned Order of Arrow Award and Eagle Scout. In his early adult years, he enjoyed officiating basketball, football, softball, and baseball games. He was a member of Rotary Club, member of the Missouri Hospital Association serving both short and long term committees, member of Chamber of Commerce, served as Chairman of Eastridge Apartments Development, instrumental in the addition of the ICU at Gentry County Memorial Hospital and the building of Albany Physician Clinic Building. He taught Red Cross First Aid was a member of disaster team.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Wilma Davidson, sister Donna Johnsrud, sister-in-law Phyllis Pelland, brother-in-law Marvin Dietz, mother and father-in-law Hattie and William Dietz.
