Robert Lee “Big Bob” Cummings
Robert Lee “Big Bob” Cummings – age 65 of Jamesport, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday night, April 14, 2024, at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, MO, after a long battle with cancer. Bob was born on March 12, 1959, the son of Lovell Cecil “Chub” and Waneva Karol (Fitch) Cummings in Jamesport, MO. Bob was a member of the Jamesport Baptist Church, where he was baptized. With the exception of the two years he spent in the Army, Bob was a lifelong resident of the hometown that he loved. He was a 1977 graduate of Tri-County High School. Following high school he served in the United States Army. Bob loved farming and he helped area farmers during planting and harvest seasons. He also hauled the Amish and worked at MFA in Gallatin. Bob enjoyed cooking, barbecuing, grilling and baking; he liked sharing the cookies he baked. Family was important to Bob, and he particularly loved his nieces and nephews. Big Bob had a big stature but an even bigger heart; he will be dearly missed by his family, friends and community.
Bob was preceded in death by his father and twin grandchildren, Kenneth Lee and Keisha Lorraine. Survivors include his mother, Waneva of Jamesport; siblings, Lynda (Steve) Brewer of Jamesport, Teresa (Bill) Parker of Jamesport and Randy Cummings of Jamesport; grandsons, Zachariah Lute and Cody Carver. Nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; great-great nieces and great-great nephews; cousins, other extended family members and numerous friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Pilot Grove #2 Cemetery in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Bob’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Jamesport Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday evening, also at the church. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Pilot Grove #2 Cemetery, near Jamesport.
