Cameron, MO: Vonda Maxine Gard, 82, Cameron, MO passed away, Friday, February 16, 2024
at a Cameron, MO hospital.
She was born February 12, 1942 in Gentry, Missouri the daughter of Avery and Frona
(Messner) Johnson.
Vonda attended Jennings School through the 8th grade and graduated from Stanberry High
School in 1960. She then went on to attend Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville,
MO and Metro Tech in Elkhorn, Nebraska.
She became an accounting bookkeeper. Vonda volunteered for Nebraska Committee
Democratic and was also a Boy Scout Leader. She loved her flowers and bird watching. Going
shopping was one of her favorite things to do. She was a very loving mother to her children.
Vonda was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Vernon Johnson and sister, Waunitha
Pierce.
Survivors include her children, Maurice Gard, St. Joseph, MO, Lori Gard, Las Vegas, NV, Troy
Gard, St. Joseph, MO and Lisa (Kevin) Ready, Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Taylor, Calvin and
Jordan; great-grandchildren, Kira, Andre and Ben; sister, Beverly (Clarence) Cogdill, Cameron,
MO; sister-in-law, Norma Johnson, Albany, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 22 at Roberson Funeral Home,
Stanberry, MO. Burial will follow in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry, MO. The family will
receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made
