Pet Of The Week – Houdini

There’s nothing quite like the love of a cat and Houdini, who is a beautiful gray, blue, and silver short-haired Tabby, is overflowing with it!

We don’t know what Houdini’s life was like before she came to Green Hills Animal Shelter, but we are sure it wasn’t one of champagne and roses. You see, Houdini (who we believe to be only 1 to 3 years old) was dumped at the shelter; left alone in the cold where her only hope was to be seen and rescued. Thankfully staff saw her and efforts to save her began. The first day Houdini was too frightened to be caught and eluded capture (thus her name, Houdini), but the next day shelter staff were able to catch her and bring her inside where she would be safe, warm, fed, and loved.

When Houdini first came into the shelter she was, understandably, very frightened. First, she had been dumped in the cold and then caught by people she didn’t know and brought into a place full of sounds and smells she didn’t recognize. Slowly but surely though Houdini began to open up and become more comfortable, and today Houdini is a completely different cat. No longer scared, she loves everyone! The kitty that was once so frightened now lovingly seeks out attention and petting. She simply cannot get enough of kind words, gentle hands, and being held. Houdini gets along well with other cats and loves spending time with her kennel mate. She is a quiet girl who enjoys playing and will be more than happy to engage in a game of chasing the laser or batting the feather with her new family.

Houdini’s wish list and needs are simple and if she could describe her perfect Forever Home she would, first and foremost, simply ask for a family who would love her forever. She would do best as an inside-only cat, especially since we’ve seen how scared she can become outdoors in unfamiliar situations. She would love a soft bed of her very own, some kitty toys, and most of all lots of pets and love. Houdini would be very content to share her home with gentle children or another feline companion, and she would most likely also do well with a canine friend as long as she has some time to adjust and get to know them.

Houdini will go to her Forever Home spayed, dewormed, FIV/FeLV tested, and up to date on all vaccinations including rabies. She will also come with her starter bag of Science Diet to start her out on meals in her new home. She has gone through hard times and emerged with a heart ready to love and be loved; could you give her the life of love and care that she so deserves?
