Pet Of The Week – Mercury
(Green Hills Animal Shelter)

There aren’t many things in this world that are as cute as a happy, wiggly puppy, and little Mercury is about as cute as a puppy can get!  Mercury’s mom, Sunny, arrived at Green Hills Animal Shelter on January 10, 2024. It was freezing cold outside and Sunny was so happy to be inside and safe, especially since the day after arriving she gave birth to 8 puppies! Mercury, her mom and her 7 siblings remained with a foster until they were 8 weeks old, and now they are back at the shelter ready to fill several lucky families’ lives with love!

Since arriving back at the shelter, Mercury has started to show her true personality and it is adorable! A DNA test tells us that Mercury is 53% Australian Cattle Dog (Heeler), 21% Labrador Retriever, 20% Great Pyrenees and 6% Australian Kelpie, and those genetics have resulted in Mercury being the absolute perfect mix of playful, outgoing and snuggly! She loves to play, but when you hold her she is all about the snuggles! Mercury loves to go outside in the shelter play yard where she follows her mom around but also loves to romp and play and get into mischief with her siblings … especially if there are mud puddles available for splashing! Mercury’s mom has a very laid-back and loving personality, and we expect to see that same personality shine in Mercury as she grows.

If Mercury could describe her perfect Forever Home she would tell us that she would like to be an indoor pup with a family who will shower her with attention and love. She would very much like to go on all her family’s adventures and be a part of everything they do! Mercury loves everyone she meets and would be very happy to share her home with gentle children, a canine companion (perhaps even her mom or one of her siblings!) or even a canine-friendly kitty.

Mercury will go to her Forever Home dewormed and up to date on all age appropriate vaccinations. Depending on her adoption date she will also be spayed or come with a voucher to complete her spay on its pre-scheduled date in May. Mercury will also arrive with a starter bag of Hill’s Science Diet puppy food to help her transition into her Forever Home.  She is a bundle of sweetness and joy; wouldn’t you love to share your heart and home with her?
