Pet Of The Week – Speckles
Courtesy of Green Hills Animal Shelter

There is nothing sweeter than a wiggly bundle of happiness who wants nothing more than to be your best friend for life, and there is no puppy that fits that description better than Speckles!  Speckles is a wonderful mix of cuddles, tail wags, and puppy joy, and she is ready and waiting to steal your heart! What makes up Speckles’ adorableness? According to a DNA test,  Speckles’ genetics are made up of 40.7% Pit Bull Terrier, 19.1% American English Coonhound, 16.2% Labrador Retriever, 11.5% Redbone Coonhound, 8.5% Akita, and 4.0% Standard Poodle. In short, Speckles and her siblings are a wonderful blend of loyalty, intelligence, sportiness, and eagerness to please!

Speckles and her siblings came to Green Hills Animal Shelter after their mom, Susie, was found wandering alone in August, very pregnant and very much in need of care. She was rescued and brought to the shelter and Speckles and her nine siblings (Minnie, Domino, Olive, Lavender, Dottie, Patches, Oreo, Tina, and Spot) were born in a foster home on August 17, 2023. Eight of Speckles’ siblings have now been adopted, and she, her mom Susie, and her sister Dottie are hoping to find their Forever Homes very soon!

Speckles is a heart-stealing pup who is sweet and affectionate. She may seem a little shy at first when compared to some of her more outgoing siblings, but underneath her quiet demeanor is a kind and friendly pup who loves and gets along with everyone she meets. Speckles is happy and playful and loves tug and chew tows. Her favorite activity is playing tug-of-war with her siblings, as well as with shelter staff and volunteers.  Speckles’ loving personality would make her a wonderful fit in a home with children, other dogs, or even a laid-back cat friend.

If Speckles could describe what she thinks her perfect Forever Home might be like she would undoubtedly tell us that she would like to have a home where she could be an indoor dog with a family who would shower her with love and involve her in all their activities. She would love to have tug-and-chew toys and a soft bed all her own. She is very smart and would love to learn tricks, take long-leashed walks with her family, and spend her entire life being loved. Speckles would very much enjoy having a child in her new home who she could grow up with, and she would also be very happy to share her home with a canine or kitty friend.

Speckles will go to her Forever Home spayed, dewormed, and up-to-date on all age-appropriate vaccinations. She will also come with her very own bag of Science Diet puppy food to get her started in her new Forever Home.
