Pet Of The Week – Toby

Please meet Toby! Toby is a young Catahoula Leopard Dog mix who is only around 1 year old. Toby, along with his siblings Hazel and Oakley, came to Green Hills Animal Shelter at the beginning of July, after being dumped and abandoned. Like his siblings, when Toby first arrived at the shelter, he was very frightened  and it took him a while to begin to understand that he was finally safe, and that nothing bad was going to happen to him anymore. Thankfully, as shelter staff and volunteers have worked with him, Toby has now started coming out of his shell and showing us what a sweet boy he is.

Today Toby is still a little shy, but when you look in his eyes now you can see how much he wants to trust and love. He is a very smart boy and would do well at obedience training, which would also help build his confidence and trust of people even more. He is a very sweet boy who genuinely wants to please, and his loyalty to the family that he comes to love and trust is going to be amazing.

If Toby could describe his perfect forever home, we believe he would ask for a calm environment with a regular daily routine, and a loving family who would spend lots of time with him and help him to continue to grow and blossom.  He would be happy in a home with children, but prefers a home without cats. Since he has siblings of his own, he might also enjoy a doggie buddy in his new home, but we recommend that he be introduced to any possible dog siblings prior to his adoption to ensure a good fit, both for Toby and his new family.

Toby has been neutered, de-wormed, heartworm tested, and is up to date on all his vaccinations, including rabies.  He has come a long way in a very short time, and he is now ready to continue her journey in a home of her own.  Could that home be yours?
